Grace Powell Sports (GPS) is designed to provide a healthy and holistic approach to the area of sports and fitness. Our leagues, classes, personal training, and camps are all created with you in mind! We strive to provide opportunities for all ages to be challenged both physically and mentally. Our goal is to help challenge, encourage and support you in the goals that you have set! We believe a healthy lifestyle opens the door for amazing transformation. One of our priorities is to remove the negative connotation surrounding the fitness industry and bring back the positive aspects and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. We want you to feel motivated and valued after every single interaction!
GPS sports and fitness programs are designed for kids, adults, and families who are looking for a positive and supportive environment with an emphasis on fun! Our camps and classes are thoughtfully planned and designed by our qualified and caring instructors to provide a great experience that is unlike any other. All of our programs are developed with excellence, founded on Biblical principles.

Sam Barnhill
Sports & Fitness Director
Sam graduated from Grove City College in Pennsylvania with a degree in Exercise Science and a certification through the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Exercise Physiologist in 2012. Sam played both basketball and track while at Grove City. He then moved to Powell and began working in both the public and private personal training arenas. In 2015, after moving home from the mission field in Madagascar, Sam began Grace Powell Sports with a small team from Grace Powell Church. Sam and his wife, Ashley, have seven kids and together share a passion for people, the outdoors, traveling and most importantly, Jesus. Sam is passionate about using sports and fitness to help people and families in our community live healthier, more fulfilling lives all while pointing people to Jesus.
Ashley Eibling
Fitness Coordinator
Ashley graduated from the University of Toledo in 2013 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She has since been practicing in the outpatient physical therapy setting since graduation. Ashley loves to come alongside patients to get to know them and help them achieve their goals. Ashley grew up around sports and played soccer and basketball in high school. She still enjoys playing both now. Ashley and her husband, Preston, have 3 young kids and live in Powell. Ashley has transitioned to fewer clinical hours as a physical therapist, but recently started as the Fitness Coordinator at Grace Powell Church. She is excited to bring her passion for peoples’ hearts and their fitness goals to a community that is committed to people’s physical AND spiritual health. She desires to see people come to know Jesus and be encouraged in addition to an excellent fitness experience.
Jeff Stimpson
GPS Leadership Team
Jeff Stimpson is the Lead Pastor of Grace Powell Church. He has been married to his wife Carrie since 1995 and they have four children, Noah, Ethan, Luke and Sarah. Jeff is passionate about sports, playing soccer and basketball in college. Since college, Jeff has coached youth and high school sports for the past 15 years. As a pastor, Jeff believes sports can be used as a bridge to minister to the community and believes wholeheartedly in the goal of GPS.
Darren Hurley
GPS Leadership Team
Darren has been attending Grace Powell Church for many years with his wife Kori and sons Drew and Nate, and he serves as an elder. His passion has been working with kids and he has pursued that in his professional career as the current Parks and Recreation Director in Worthington and in prior roles running camps, sports leagues, classes and special events for various cities. He has also coached over 30 youth sports teams as a volunteer as his sons have played soccer, baseball, and basketball around the community. Darren is living in his third Big Ten community as a graduate of Illinois and Indiana, but his loyalty is still with the Fighting Illini!
Kyle Schumm
GPS Leadership Team
Kyle graduated with his Master’s in Physical Therapy from Mount Saint Joseph University in Cincinnati, OH in 2002. While at Mount Saint Joseph, he also double majored in Athletic Training, working alongside all the athletes and coaches for football, soccer, softball, baseball, volleyball, and basketball. Locally, he has coached a variety of teams including the Hyatts/Liberty boys volleyball team as well as youth flag football, baseball, and basketball through various organizations. Although initially thinking he would be involved with collegiate or professional sports organizations, he found a love and passion for impacting lives in the 55+ generation, and currently serves as Area Rehab Director for Centerwell Home Health in MI/OH. He has been certified in Delay the Disease for Parkinson and Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Kyle and his wife Heather have been an active members of Grace Powell Church since 2005, and He has served as elder since 2021. Kyle is excited to apply his experiences and expertise to the classes and fitness of Grace Powell Sports. “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:8) Thankful that GPS allows us to due both!
Sam Davies
GPS Intern
Sam has been a volunteer for Grace Powell Sports since its beginnings in 2017. He spent one year at Grove City College studying entrepreneurship before transferring to Columbus Community College to study Construction Management. Sam has felt a calling to Missions and can’t wait to be part of the GPS team! He has a passion to teach the Good News of Jesus through sports. He has played sports all his life and hopes to bring knowledge and experience into our sport leagues and camps.
